Why Being CWB Certified Matters

At KYJO Steel, we have a strong team of welders who are ready to exceed your toughest demands. Our knowledge and equipment mean we can weld parts up to and over 20,000 lbs, dependent on shape. With 24 feet of height under our crane, we have more than enough space to complete your biggest projects. KYJO Steel is CWB certified in both Mild and Stainless Steel as well as Aluminum, so you can rest assured every project is completed to the highest standards. Why does our certification matter to you? Here are the top three reasons:

1. Safety

CWB Group has a 70 year history of protecting Canadians by ensuring critical building and infrastructure welding work meets the relevant Canadian codes and standards. For an extremely important piece of the building process, welding is often an unseen industry when it comes to the end user.

The importance of high quality welding was understood in the industry’s early days as welding began replacing riveting and bolting as the primary way to connect metal. Canada lead the way as an early adopter of ‘one standard’ for welding overseen by an administering body. This eventually lead to the Canadian Welding Bureau being created.

As the industry expanded, changed, and grew, the CWB continued to be the authority, ensuring welding work met appropriate safety standards – protecting the end user, welders, and companies that employed them – as a certification and registration organization for businesses involved in the welding of steel structures.

2. It’s Mandatory

Buildings and structures fall under the jurisdiction of the National Building Code of Canada, which requires they have welding work completed by CWB certified companies. This is mandatory under multiple codes and regulations as set out by the CSA.

3.   Quality Assurance

As an overseeing body, the CWB ensures consistency across the board on a continual basis. In Canada, welders are required to recertify every two years by the Canadian Welding Bureau. When companies maintain their certification, it ensures their staff are qualified in engineering, supervisory, and welding collectively, while following approved procedures.

KYJO Steel takes our certification seriously because it helps us provide superior welding results for every client. A certified team backed by training and experience, KYJO Steel is the right partner for your next project.
