Giving back to our community is deeply embedded at the heart of who we are as a company. That’s why KYJO Steel is proud to be a Gold Level Youth Event Sponsor for The Technical Training Group (TTG), a local not-for-profit corporation that provides technical and skilled trades training in Stratford, ON.
TTG FunTECH Programming
The Technical Training Group is focused on expanding FunTECH Youth programming through the Huron-Perth area. These embedded school workshops expose grade six students to a variety of tools, equipment, and skills in a fun, supportive, and hands-on learning environment. TTG also offers a one-day weekend camp in November for Youth ages 7-14, and is exploring the potential for afterschool programs in the future.
Why TTG Youth Events Matter
As our world shifts to value University degrees and the careers that accompany them, we are seeing a huge gap in the skilled trades sector. With most schools guiding students towards these programs and away from the trades, many of today’s youth and their parents don’t even consider the skilled trades as a career option.
The opportunity to experience these trades in a hands-on, fun way can provide a valuable social influence over career selection for students. Doing so in the grade school experience offers early awareness and may encourage youth to participate in a technical program in their high school years that they wouldn’t have otherwise considered.
KYJO Steel and TTG
The Technical Training Group helps people of all ages gain the skills necessary to start a rewarding career in the trades. Local, experienced instructors provide training in a safe learning environment, with industry standard equipment. At KYJO Steel, we utilize TTG training for our apprentices, who complete the schooling portion of their training in the evenings.
