1. What is your role at KYJO? And how long have you worked for KYJO?

I have worked here since April of 2014, minus about fifteen months. I work as a Welder/Fitter and Brake Press Operator.

2. Describe your daily activities on the job at KYJO?

On a daily basis, I operate a brake press, weld and fit as needed, learn new skills, always try to improve my capabilities, and listen to my superiors…I always do what Luke says!

3. How did you first learn about KYJO?

When I was in high school my co-op teacher introduced me to KYJO Steel.

4. What have you gained from working at KYJO?

During my time here I have completed my welding apprenticeship and earned my Red Seal Ticket. Both, I see as big accomplishments. I have picked up many new skills along the way. This is a very good place to work.

5. What is on your wish list for the next 5 years with KYJO?

  1. Improve my skills in my trades
  2. Show up sooner than 6:58 am for my 7:00 am shift start
  3. Keep enjoying my job
  4. Learn to better troubleshoot the machinery
  5. More vacation time (who doesn’t want that)!

 6. What is your favourite part about working for KYJO?

The best part about working here is that I am not just treated like a number. The company and team really take the time to get to know me. I can work at my own pace AND get to work on personal projects after work hours. It’s a very safe and clean work environment.

7. What is your proudest moment at KYJO?

Earning my Red Seal Ticket is without a doubt my proudest moment at KYJO. I worked so hard and had a lot of support along the way.

8. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? 

Just saying, I think I would make a pretty great Prime Minister…

9. What are 3 words to describe KYJO culture?

  1. Safe Space
  2. Relaxed
  3. Enjoyable

10.   What do you enjoy outside of KYJO?  What are your hobbies?

In my spare time, I like to stay active with things like ATVing, fishing, creating metal art, working in my shop, and traveling.
